The National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps (I-Corps) prepares scientists and engineers to extend their focus beyond the laboratory and broadens the impact of select, NSF-funded, basic-research projects.
The NSF’s Richard Voyles, PhD, will join us via webcast. Dr. Voyles and a panel of UB’s own I-Corps participants will share how this program helps researchers turn innovative ideas into commercial products.

The Pre-Seed Workshop is returning to Buffalo! Pre-Seed Workshop is a community event where teams build companies—not the physical structures, but the foundational plans. And it all happens in two and a half days.
The Kick-off Dinner will feature presentations from Pre-Seed hosts and CoE faculty. This is an opportunity for our pre-selected teams to network with one another and get to understand the Idea Champion's goals. Get to know more about the resources in New York, and the sponsors who support innovation, as you learn about your team's ideas.

NYBA CEO Breakfast Club presents Bob Nowinski, CEO of ContraFect, as their June speaker. This event is restricted to 25 life science executives only and will offer a unique opportunity to hear directly from--and to network with--New York's life science leadership.
Dr. Nowinski founded seven biotechnology companies. He subsequently brought four of these companies public through an IPO financing. He was the first employee in each company and also held the executive position(s) of CEO and/or the Chairman of the Board. In each business he set the direction, acquired the initial technology, recruited key management, and provided oversight for the research programs

"A gap exists at the intersection of job training and employer needs in Buffalo."
Buffalo Business First takes a look at the connections HR professionals in Buffalo are making to attract qualified candidates, including the recent Life Sciences Commercialization Lecture held: Pursuing a Life Sciences Career in Buffalo Niagara.
The James H. Cummings Foundation has presented a gift of $1 million to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus. The gift will help establish the James H. Cummings Foundation Epilepsy Monitoring Center at the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. This gift supports a $40 million campaign for the $220 million, 12-story hospital project, and the Epilepsy Monitoring Center will replace the existing eight-bed unit housed on the 7th floor of the Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
