ECONOMIC IMPACT

The CoE's scientific mission goes hand-in-hand with its mission to drive economic development in the Buffalo Niagara region and New York State. The CoE generates new life sciences ideas and technologies. These ideas and technologies produce opportunity. The CoE pursues research in the mechanistic process of human disease with the goal of developing diagnostics tools and therapeutic interventions, preventive treatment and other disease management devices and processes to promote the health and well being of the population. Turning discoveries into actual products and services is where the CoE's technology transfer and commercialization resources come into play.

The progress report below for the region's life sciences activities from 2001 to 2005 indicates a positive trend associated with the approach to integrating translational research combined with economic development and business support services.
