The New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics & Life Sciences (CoE) is oriented toward translational research, technology transfer, and commercialization supported by a rich history of discovery among scientists at CoE research institutions include:

Working closely with its commercialization partners, the CoE is geared toward leveraging its research capabilities to create new technological advantages for health care and life sciences industry sectors, including biotechnology, biomedical informatics, diagnostics, medical devices, pharmaceuticals and research & development.

 

 

Center for Advanced Technology (CAT)

The State University of New York at Buffalo Center for Advanced Biomedical and Bioengineering Technology (UB CAT), one of fifteen such Centers for Advanced Technology located across the state, supports university-industry collaboration in research, education and technology transfer, with a strong focus on helping New York State-based businesses gain a technological edge on their competition. Operating under the auspices of the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research (NYSTAR) within the CoE, the CAT is fueling continued growth in some of the most promising technologies of tomorrow and in some of the most important sectors of the state's economy. The UB CAT focuses on biomedical and bioengineering research that can lead to development of useful products with commercial potential. By accelerating science and technology transfer, the UB CAT fosters the creation of new biotech start-up companies and helps existing biomedical businesses expand through new or improved product lines. The UB CAT is currently accepting applications for support of the development of new biomedical and bioengineering technologies. Through the support of selected research and development projects, the mission of the UB CAT award is to transition new biomedical and bioengineering technologies from the research laboratory to the marketplace through funding of high-tech projects with significant potential for economic impact.

Technology Transfer Programs

University at Buffalo Office of Science, Technology Transfer and Economic Outreach (STOR) has three divisions, including Intellectual Property, Funding and Commercialization, to work with business leaders, researchers and entrepreneurs. UB technologies may also be reviewed online (click here)

Roswell Park Cancer Institute Technology Transfer Office facilitates the process of applying for patents, trademarks and copyright, as well as promoting licensing opportunities.
